After World War I, Vaidegiai became part of the newly independent Lithuania.
During World War II, Vaidegiai was occupied by Nazi Germany from 1941 to 1944.
Sadly, the Jewish population of the village was murdered during the Holocaust.
After the war ended, Vaidegiai was again under the control of the Soviet Union until Lithuania gained independence in 1990.
